MC501 vs MC452

想知 MC501 x2 vs MC452 x2 in mono mode vs MC601 x2 會有咩分別?
好多人都話MC452 over performance MC501, 是否真的?
因為 MC452 x2 可以每聲道有900W, 好似有力好多... 仲勁過MC601?

Dear 師兄，
溫馨提示，在 McIntosh MC302、MC452 之功能上是沒有 Mono Bridge 的 ， 是不能與 MC501、MC601 來作比較，MC452 只可用 2pcs 作 Bi-amp 的玩法 ，而 MC501 仍很早期之舊代 McIntosh 之線路設計，因此亦與 最新的 MC601 有頗大的分別，很難以論定呢。

MC501 的確較新一代淋聲一點，但此款機型早已停產 ，當然是沒有辦法可試聽到呢

师兄， 请勿盗聼途说，傳言嘅野都系靠估，是否真正用家，是否够中肯，唔要A/B面對面對拼，并不可信。大瓦数输出并唔一定好力大聲好聼过细瓦数。自MC2100，2120，402，501，到而家用緊嘅601，如果器材啦叭組件配置合適，其實音質並無乜分別，就算比自己升級到1.2kw咁又點呢，除咗更型仔，更重量級，更貴格外相信都喺差唔多。

A 是否Over Preformed B 确实唔会有真正答案，毕竟玩机都系主觀性强嘅個人爱好，自己聼得顺耳就得。

聼Ken Sir指引实唔会错得去邊。好多师兄其实對老麦型号及性能并唔了解，Ken Sir耐心花时间精神同我们有问必答，实在系我们老麦们嘅百科字典。呢度先向Ken SIr 谢过。

I have once heard MC501 from a friend but there was no AB test with MC452 and therefore not really know the difference.

I do understand that if configuration matches, the good characteristics of "house sound" of McIntosh could retain while keeping the speed and dynamic range of SS.

Since I have had MC252 for years, and do feel it was not as "clear" as MC452 as in other friends' houses and HiFi stores. Now, I am using MC275 and the mid-range is even more "sweet and smooth" but seems that the bass and treble even is bounded. I am planning to buy 2nd hand MC501/first hand MC452 so that I could hv two systems containing different characteristics for best enjoy of music.

Simply want to know if there is much difference. Many claimed that MC501 will have "tube-like" characteristics but a bit better dynamic and treble than MC275. But MC452 will totally diff to the former two.

BTW, thank again Ken Sir and mlfan2012 for your advice.

I enjoy being here with all mc fans. Sharing comments and sugestions among others. As well as learning new stuffs from Ken Sir or anyone who loves Mcintosh and music.

I used to owned the c500T, twin 275v in mono bridge driving WP7, before getting into my current setup. However those 275v did not well paired with my door size CLS electrostat speakers until I had tried the older cheap vintage 2100,2120, modern 402 and 501s, they all worked fine. One occasion I upgraded to 601s and in fact I did not hear much surprise out of them. Thats why I stop moving up now.

Having system audition at someone's home is hard for us to come to a conclusion with common sense that one is better than other. Trust your own ears with realworld listening at your own room. Not all of our system alike, thus they sound differently in good or bad.


The mc452 is indeed being designed and well made to the highest standard as a stereo amp with latest advanced circuitry board over other old models. But the drawback is it can't be mono bridgable like its early 402, which lot of Chings may not notice that. Technically speaking the 452 should drive pretty nicely with those toughest speakers in the world without problem. If you are with Mcintosh for sometime, then no doubt the mc452 should please you for many years to come. Just forget about those 501s with less advanced features which you may not resell them easily. Go with 601s if the mono block is what you like.

When you agreed, then if you got one of those 452 already ? Please share your thoughts.  

I have yet tried one at home, hence nothing more to say about.
