The series acts as a prequel to the first film (although is set in modern day). Clive Standen stars as a younger version of Bryan Mills, the character played by Liam Neeson in the trilogy.

I've just watched the first episode of this tv series, it really sucks and I've already lost interest in continuing to watch the upcoming episodes!
