One more thing. Remember to use unshielded ethernet cables at the computer end of the network. I do not know why. You try unshielded cables first and play a few songs. Then switch all to shielded cables then play a few songs. In my case, in terms of sound quality, the unshielded cables at the computer end sound better. I heard from some friends that most consumer network equipment are not build to use shielded cables and using shielded cables may create some problems. I am not a technical guy, just doing some experimentation and listening to the result. In my case, the difference is pretty big.

Lastly, I am using Kenneth Lau's power supply to power the media convertor at the streamer side. I am waiting for the Paul Hynes SR7EHDXL power supply to arrive. Not sure how the two power supplies will compare. The SR7EHDXL was shipped out last week, but it was lost by UPS. UPS is still searching for the lost parcel, which I think its most likely lost for good.

What you did is earthing the metal RJ45 plug

Yes. What I did was to earth the RJ45 plug.

But I noticed some very important detail about the earthing of this RJ45 plug:

1. The power cord that is use must be a shielded power cord.
2. Must minimised the exposed unshielded wire. Thus the stripping must be done properly and of the right length. This is true for the power plug end and the other end that is connected to the RJ45. Try not as far as possible not to expose any unshielded wire. One can do an experiment with this: (i) strip more wire off and expose more unshielded wire. Then listen to some songs. And then (ii) cover the unshielded wire with aluminium foil. But ensure that foil is also earthed. Then listen to some songs.
3. I am using belden 19364 for this purpose. I had not tried other power cables.
4. Lastly the drain wire of the power cable should be connected to the power plug only. Cut off the drain wire at the other end.
