K500a hing. That is very good. I'm still waiting for the Amber board upgrade. Did you have the green Regen version? I eager to compare green version against Amber version.

I ordered the 'usb regen' after your sharing and the shipped one has already been a 'amber' version .
Yesterday , I added a Ground box to the 'usb regen' + battery.
It improves the sound further.
The end result delivered from 'usb regen' +9v battery supply + ground box is better than 10k usb cable upgrade.
It is more darker background, fuller harmonics and better image focus.

I'd upgrade its rating from good buy to best buy for the 2015 1st half year.

Good idea for this thread Dave!

My goal has always been to try to get my system to a point where it really does a convincing job of making it seem as though I am in the room with the band.

Before I purchased the Regen, I decided I was close enough, but the Regen is relatively cheap so....

Chronology:

A) 1 Regen- definite improvement.

B) iFi iUSB inserted ahead of the Regen- a step backwards and some odd, variable listening experiences. iUSB removed.

C) Next, I swapped in the El-Cheapo Chinese Ebay LPS in place of the stock smps. (subtle, but nice uptick)

D) Then I bought a couple Jitterbugs.....

E) 1 Regen + 1 Jitterbug: OK, now this is really getting good. The Jitterbug absolutely complements the Regen and no way is the Jitterbug going back to Music Direct.

F) 2 Regens + 2 Jitterbugs: Holy ****! No hyperbole, this is shocking. Perma-grin on my face. The band is in my room. The sound is so life-like that it is almost creepy.


It is early, but I am not hearing any downside. Just positive improvements.

For the moment I am MBP > TotalDac > Regen > adapter > Regen > adapter > Berkeley Alpha.

Next, I will experiment with MBP > Lightspeed > Regen > TotalDac > Regen > adapter > Berkeley Alpha.

As always, YMMV, my ears, etc.

原來 JitterBug 仲可以當係窮人地盒咁用，插隻入去吉嘅 USB port 都會隔走 EMI／RFI：

各位離目前國外火紅，賣到斷貨的UpTone Regen很近了。

第一代的Regen今年4月誕生，第一批的95顆一下就賣到缺貨。
Regen使用一般的USB HUB晶片，所有產品就像一台1埠的USB HUB，
而其能讓所有燒友讚嘆的秘密就是把來自HOST(電腦)端的5V斷絕，
改由自己供應乾淨的5V電源；
除此之外，也換上了比一般HUB更精準的 Clock。
這就是第一代Regen的傳奇，各位已完成一半了(另一半是Clock)。

不過有趣的是，Regen的研發竟然也和各位熱烈討論的康寧光纖線有關：

正當披星戴月加緊趕工生產之際，Regen研發者John意外的有機會試到康寧線。
他和朋友發現康寧線為了要讓 Slave端得到供電，且增加相容性，
因此在光纖內佈了一對28awg的銅線。
所以康寧線不僅沒有實現來自電腦端的電訊隔離(Galvanic Isolation)，
更讓一些不好的東西從這兩條銅線竄入Slave裝置端。

正當他們使用康寧線加Regen在聆聽音樂時，發現這個組合似乎增加了不少低頻細節。
John猜測低頻細節的增加可能與康寧線內10米長的地線有關，
因為一般音響系統的接地線約0.3~0.5歐姆，
而康寧線內的GND電阻值高達3歐姆，迫使USB的地電流採取其他路徑。

因此他們拿出Regen附贈的usb線，扒開後在pin4的gnd加上一顆大於3歐姆的電阻，
拿這條普通的usb改良線替換掉康寧線再重聽一次，
Bingo!!!得到了和康寧線一像的低頻細節。

所以，研發者立即發出斷貨消息，並重新更改線路，
在Regen上加了三顆超低噪電阻，這就是現在六月份即將出貨的新版 Regen!!!

John此刻發下豪語：UBS Regen Updated. Amazing Bass!!!

之前聽套CAS時間長的話，關機那一刻會有種莫名的舒暢感，這其實是聽音疲勞。
用左呢件野之後這疲勞感消失了。
