小弟見最近CAS討論漸熱烈，很多師兄都願意投放資金同精神落CAS度.....
但大部份師兄都覺得CAS SETTING 很煩很複雜，RIP碟過程又多VARIATION, 好似TUNE極都係數碼聲，又乾又硬.....總好似不及CDP, CAS聲音總係入唔到流咁,只係貪佢夠方便,CASUAL LISTENING ONLY....

然而，小弟作為CAS粉絲，既係一位電腦人，又係半位音樂人....... 從技術層面，同埋幾年黎不斷的聽感，始終覺得CAS絕對不是二奶命，更不是不入流，玩得好絕對可以超越傳統REDBOOK CDP技術上的限制....可以好HIEND (刀兄上身)

CAS玩法可以好多....重心著眼點可以好廣泛 (硬件，PLAYBACK軟件，DAC，OS，DRIVER，KERNEL SETTING，USB/COAXIAL/OPT/FIREWIRE/LAN CABLE, 電源...ETC)

誠言，小弟係一個極懶極唔上進嘅人 ........你叫我鑽研以上提及各項SETTING, SORRY小弟完全冇心機.......玩咗多年，對CAS TUNING都仲係一竅不通.....

但若你問我玩過咁多部CAS邊部最值得推介(聲音/便利度)，小弟就誠意推介呢部頗高CP值中價位DIGITAL STREAMING PLAYER --- LINN AKURATE DS (OLD VER)

However, with the coming up of Klimax Renew DS, this may be a different story.

According to the comments from the overseas agents who had listened and compared the Klimax Renew DS, the sound performance:

Klimax DS/1 > Klimax DS > Klimax Renew DS > Akurate DS/1 > Akurate DS

Therefore, if the price of Klimax Renew DS is reasonable and comparable, it may be a much more cost effective DS within Linn DS series.

Let's wait and see when the Klimax Renew DS is coming out so that we can have chance to do a real audition comparison side-by-side.

Yes, I am also very interested in this 'Renew DS' (although the word 'Renew' is sooo weird to me )

I am still doubtful about the marketing positioning of this 'Renew DS' (with klimax DS circuit board inside)

As far as I know, there are 3 major areas that Klimax DS over the old Akurate DS

1. Re-fined circuit board wiring and matched-pairs of electronic components. (contributed ~30% of the overall improvement I think)
2. Additional output transformers in the analogue output stage. (contributed ~30% of the overall improvement I think)
3. Dead hard CNC aluminium case with absolute isolation of vibration and interference. (contributed ~40% of the overall improvement I think)

Now that the 'Renew DS' (with just a simple enclosure) omits the important point 3, I am afraid the level of sound refinement will be greatly influenced.

Have you ever listened to Linn Akurate DS or any Linn DS before telling they are no good for analog output ?

Once again, you cannot judge whether the machine is better than the other just "look" at the components or board layout.

For any HiFi or AV, the most important is to listen or view for results after the side-by-side comparison.

I can tell you, I have listened and compared side-by-side the Linn DS from Majik DS, Akurate DS and Klimax DS at the same time within the same speaker & power amp setup.

Each DS has its own performance and power to deliver musical software.

I original just wanted to get a Akurate DS.  However, after several comparison, I finally purchased the Klimax DS which was nearly 2.5~3 times more expensive.

I just trust my own ears after doing the subjective comparison.



If anyone can see the components and predict the final performance, then it is very easy to design a hi-end equipment by using the top quality components.

For high-end products, they are not easy to design in the real world as many other factors will rule out the final performance after serious listening tests.

Anyway, let's do not guess at this moment.

Once we can get the new Klimax DS/1 and Klimax Renew DS, we can conduct a side-by-side comparison to see the performance together with the Klimax DS.
