just asking: less buying cd in US because of being expensive and have to pay tax? don't trust shops in china town because afraid of fake cd?

Money is not big problem, Chinatown shop doesn't charge tax. Fake CD is the most issue, I went in to check some "Hi-Fi" CDs, all make in China some unknown company. For example, I bought "人聲低音炮1 - 閃亮的日子 : 趙鵬 (中國版)" from yesasia.com, so I know what is the real one look like. I can't find the real one in Chinatown. I wish I can travel to HongKong to buy CDs.

Buy CD in HK cheaper than buy on the web(no sales tax)? You can ask friends here to buy and ship/mail to yoy, if economically viable.

You can buy in Hifitrack. There're many 24/96 WAV/FLAC albums. 趙鵬also has 24/96 .

if your wav file has cue file, you can use Daemon Tools Lite to mount it like a CD. Then use Windows Media Player to rip to mp3. Link: http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/products/dtLite

Where you get the wav file from? If download from internet, normally comes with cue file, so you can burn to CD. If use EAC, also can create a cue file. If you download from a paid site, they sell wav file one by one, then no cue file. The Daemon tool will help you to mount to a CD, so you don't have to burn it.

the wav files are simply ripped by itunes from my cd collections, what is the file extension of such and you mean for each wav file, there is a corresponding cue file? can you show me an example? thx.

itunes doesn't create cue file, just rip your CD again by using Windows media player. cue file usually come with the ape/wav/flac file downloaded from internet. For example if you download from this Chinese site: http://www.airsina.net/viewthrea ... a=page%3D2#pid83482 it will have 1 dts(wav) file and 1 cue. #2 is a example of a cue file content. Drag the cue into foobar2000 it will show all the songs in the dts file. Or here: http://www.airsina.net/thread-18839-1-2.html

Ching 如果RIP碟真係EAC最好聲, 小弟自己試過3-4隻SOFTWARE都係EAC RIP出來最好聲.
其實你用EAC時DOWNLOAD佢個PACKAGE, 佢已有個ONLINE 找碟INFO的SOFTWARE包括左. 我自己RIP 碟10隻有成8-9隻都不用再打歌手/大碟/歌名 都自己SHOW晒.都好方便.

Is the plug in called GD3? it cost $7.99. But if it can find most of the Chinese/HK CDs' information, $7.99 is worth. Also, what kind of format you use? Flac or Wav?

Ching I believe the plug-in is call CUETools and I think it free. At least I ripped more than 2X CD now, it still can use without problem.

想玩DAC,但對CAS/DAC一知半解,爬文後初步理解:

1) rip cd/buy file from internet...<---file format:WAV AIFF FLAC MP3...
2)CAS -pc/mac(唔識/無用mac机故撇開不談)
3)DAC -digital to analogue converter

(1) d file 放在usb hdd/nas/upnp server之類駁去(2),用media player software 如foolbar(for pc) 再駁(3)解碼後俾pre amp,receiver.

cdp亦可直接駁(3)

因慳皮同小樣野或好聲d,可否刪去(2),即CAS-pc一項,直接將hdd 經hdd docking用usb線直入(3)DAC(要某d model先support到?)?

見到d產品知kingrex uc192 數位訊號轉換器(usb---> s/pdif(rca),I2S(RJ45), AES/EBU (tiny XLR)作為沒有usb輸入dac與電腦訊源,可否用於hdd via usb hdd docking,dac 可以無usb in?

另我部老爺sony cdp x5000有xlr digital out(好過rca coaxial out?),唔知邊d dac有xlr digital in?



現時係chipset世界(新好過舊?),買dac要搵邊d chipset(如wolfson?)穩陣?

$10k(平d重好)以下dac(二手亦可),可以接駁hdd via hdd docking(用usb線)及有xlr digital in(夾sony cdp x5000 xlr digitial out),有埋xlr out重好,有乜好介紹(又要馬兒好,又要...)? thx.

以上理解有錯請多多指教(其實自己越問越亂...).
