Like many C Hings, I cannot have speaker stands in place because of limited space and having kids at home. Everybody knows, it's not a good idea to have speakers on the TV shelf but that's the fact I have to deal with, so I've been spending quite a bit of effort to make things better.
I tried cheap wood small desktop stand from Tao Bao before, it wasn't good and it's too light and would be moved easily. Then I tried Auralex speakers foam base, it reduced vibration but at the same time it softened the bass too much as it's just too soft.
Finally I came close to a better solution, that is Black Granite/ Mable, I had two thick heavy ones stacked up, on the base of each one, I stuck a plastic cushion sheet to reduce vibration. Like a sandwich.
Then after getting the Karis, I've found that there are 4 holes at the bottom of the speakers and I read about Vibrapod Cones before, so I bought them and tried. My idea is that the iron ball at each cone would just fit tight in the hole so they can hold the speakers firmly.
I know it's never going to be as good as using a pair of speaker stands but I hope I can make slight improvement one step at a time. Thanks for sharing. |
