According to the specification of the Holo Spring, There is no information for the maximum voltage of the RCA and the Balance outputs. Does any Holo Spring user have the information about this listed on the manual. Please advise.

I have just purchased a Holo Spring DAC today. When operating it with a Linux box, it can read dsd files with the display showing dsd64. But, when operating it through Windows 10 of pc, all the music files just showed 44.1K on the display including the DSD files. Can any brother provide me with help? Thanks

Did you install the certified windows driver( different drivers for windows 7 and windows 10)?
What player did you use in windows?

Yes, I have installed the proper driver for Windows 10 v3.40. But, the problem has been solved now. I had to click the output frequency from 44.1k to 176400 to fix it.

I came from Lumin A1. Bought the Holo Spring in Oct 2016 and found that the former could not output digital signal to the latter. Got the Lumin U1 and it works fine with the Spring thru coaxial. Later added the SingXer SU-1 with U1 USB to SU-1 to HDMI to Spring's I2S. The outcome with Redbook 44.1k files is draw dropping. Unrestrained human voices, crisp and solid guitars, silky smooth violins, weighty bass in clear layers, dark background and very wide sound stage, quite close to the characteristics of the LP realm.

However, with DSD files, left/right channels are reversed, and sound level drops by several dbs compared to 44.1k files. Just wonder if users of similar set-ups have experienced the same problem and would much appreciate advice on how to rectify the problem.

In general, the output level of dsd files is lower than that of the pcm files. It is normal. Referring to your case that the L and R channels are reversed, it might be the problem of your connection to have the L & R reversed. Please check it over

It is known that the Singxer newest firmware has the L R channel reversed in DSD. So if you need to convert it back to the older firmware to rectify the problem.

Also happen to my Holo Spring. PCM files sounds louder than DSD file. And it seems there is no way to balance out the sound level between DSD and PCM. So a bit not perfect to this DAC, everytime when I play the music I need to decide "DSD" or "PCM, but not a mix.

It is known that DSD is 6dB less loud than PCM. That is why in some players like HQplayer they have a preset +6dB when you change to DSD. So if your player does not have this feature then you need to set the volume according to your PCM and then when you change to DSD you manually +6dB so as to enjoy the same sound level as PCM. When you change from DSD to PCM then you reduce by 6dB.

As asked Joe of your case. He said you have upgraded the wrong firmware ver.2.02. You should upgrade the ver.2.00 for Spring. The ver.2.02 is for PS Audio. So, you have to install ver2.00 to recover the status back to normal.

Please note both the firmware ver.2.00 and ver.2.02 are for the Singxer SU-1, not for the Holo Spring. You have to install the ver.2.00 to the Singxer not the Holo Spring. Be sure not to mix up!

Very many thanks to the learned users here for your quick response.

I got my Holo Spring from Wildism Joe. The last time I mentioned the problem to him, he did not give me such an answer regarding the Holo firmware.

I vaguely remember reading in some forum something about the Singxer SU-1 back tracking to an older firmware could resolve the reversed channel problem. This is now the first time I hear about Holo Spring's back tracking would have the same result.

Being a novice, I have to be safe rather than sorry. Just hoping to find out whether I should work on the Holo Spring or the Singxer SU-1. Certainly can't do both as this would result in going back to square one. Has anyone actually gone through the process and got the problem rectified?
