Info quoted from AVS forum :
"...BenQ enters the 4K compact DLP 4K race for less than 3000$ and will be released in January 2018, the W1700.
It is a 4K DLP compatible HDR and 3D with CinematicColor and frame interpolation, here it is in photo..."
"...Apart from that, it looks to be fairly good. Pricing state $2499.99 in AUS which is about $1999,99 in the US. If that's the case it should sell well.
Will have to wait for first reviews for contrast/color levels as it sounds like it hits Rec709 (well about 95% of that space), and "supports" HDR10. Hard to tell what supports means, especially if it's only 95% of 709 then the color space to play with won't be that much compared to what some may be used to with HDR on their TV's.
I like the fact that in one of their press releases they call it Projector enhanced HDR which hopefully means that rather than just trying to hit TV standard for HDR they have tweaked it especially for the way a projector handles light (large source light from front vs how a TV works with many tiny lights sources from behind)..." |
