Hi,
Suppose I have made a machine using a Pi and various other electronics (some off-the-shelf and some hand-made). Now suppose that everybody keeps telling me I should 'rent out' or sell the machine for the general public to use. Then further suppose that I live in the UK where every idea and every small business is stifled and crushed by 'health and safety' & compliance legislation etc.
I would like to start a discussion on how to go about this sort of thing in the real world.
A few considerations to get things rolling :-
- Who are you supposed to talk to about this sort of thing (citizens advice, the council, the police, Batman?)
- Would 'battery power' instead of mains be a better idea (even if everything is 5v-12v coming from an off the shelf adapter)?
- What if it fell onto a small childs head? At what point do you cease to be responsible in the eyes of the law? If you think that sounds dumb, the original XBox manual had pages of warning text and diagrams about not letting the console fall onto a small childs head.
- Is it worth trying to do anything yourself any more or should we all just give up and go work for a large supermarket chain who can afford compliance testing and liability insurance?
Any help will be apprecited.
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
