Time to upgrade existing system

Dear Cfu and CHing,

After about 4 years with the existing gear. It is time to review and upgrade the equipment. The major area want to increase is the deepth of the sound stage and more sweet female vocal. I can said my existing setup can have reasonable analysis power, speed and wide sound stage.
Which area can be considered to replaced? Power AMP or Speaker or others? Please help to adise... Thanks

I would say depth of sound stage is magiorly governed by how good your system could resolve small signal, and that means the lowest the noise floor and highest the SN ratio the better the depth. However, all components will contribute noise, I will start from source, turntable including cartridge and arm in analog or transport and DAC in digital. The second upgrade may be on room acoustic treatment, especially on front wall. Of course reposition and upgrade of speaker will be helpful too.  Every component will affect tonal balance including voice, may be start from minor modification, like cables, fuses, grounding and isolation etc.

Thanks for your quick reply. My point is which one should be replaced first? Speaker, Amp or source. You can see my low end gear from my signature.

You may try to do some room acoustics before you upgrade others, since your gears have no significant weakness.

As my listening space is about 12' x 30', but can only use the short length as the speaker and audiences distance. The speaker can only 1.5 ft from back wall. This may be the reason of the shallow stage.

1) Can replace the power AMP (such as Spectral DMA 360) to improve?
2) Replace the speaker to Magico S3 or Focal N2 can improve?

IMHO, the depth of the soundstage is directly related to the delay in the sound reflection from front/back wall, the more you pull your speakers away from the front wall, the better the depth will you perceive.

There is not too much you could do in changing amp since you already have very good gears.

樓主想有更靓的音埸深度，就算换上天價器材也沒用。

聆聽環境及喇叭的擺位才是主要根由。

If can't pull them further away from the wall, how about pull them wider from each other?

音响器材升级可帶来即時満足感,  驟耳聽落去 聲音改變了好開心, 然而聽真啲又好似有點不足, 到最後 分唔清楚係人玩hi-fi戓是hi-fi玩人。

其實room acoustic係非常重要一環, 無論面積大小 搵個機會執執間房, 贏在起跑線 回報可能超乎你想像。

打直整個廳三十呎玩晒，加適量 Room Acoustic，唔洗換任何器材已升級十倍。
除非要換味，那就只好換器材了。

impossible la. My tiger at home will kill me ......... Hmmm!

If the depth of sound stage is the dead end, then how which area at my gear have to replace in order to have a more tender and musical female vocal. I found the existing setup is satify with the Jazz instrument performance, female vocal seems not that attactive.

I pushed the speaker half more ft away from the back wall (totally > 2 ft). The sound stage improved a lot. The focus of the singer is more sharp. Thank you Cfu and CHing.
