Bryan Singer was a good choice to take over the X-Men: First Class sequel 'Days of Future Past'. What do you think?
Bryan Singer Confirmed To Direct 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'
My mutant brothers and sisters we can rejoice as Bryan Singer has signed on to take over the director's seat in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'.
It was a sad day last week when we reported that 'X-Men: First Class' director Matthew Vaughn, who was originally attached to direct the film, would not be returning to helm 'Days of Future Past' but Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Fox closed a deal with Bryan Singer to take over.
Singer launched the franchise when he directed 'X-Men' in 2000, 'X2: X-Men United' in 2003 and produced 2011's prequel 'X-Men: First Class' -- so having him on bored to direct the next movie installment seems like a logical choice.
Vaughn will stay on as a producer along with longtime 'X-Men' producer Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg.
As a refresher - 'Days of Future Past' is a 1981 storyline from the comic that feature alternative timelines and set in a future where Sentinels rule and my poor mutant friends are incarcerated in concentration camps. Kitty Pryde sends her old mind back to her younger self to warn the X-Men that they must prevent the assassination of Senator Robert Kelly in order to save the future.
Of course we don't know what direction the movie will be doing in just yet, but in an interview in August with IGN Singer implied that there could be some crossover action going on.
Singer said quote, "I think there's a strong desire to broaden out the universe. The X-Men universe is every bit on its own as big as the Marvel universe, and I think that it's time to reach out and explore it and perhaps bring some connectivity between the films as Marvel has done so well."
'Days of Future Past' is set to be released on July 18, 2014 with Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence returning.
Mutant lovers, how do you feel about Bryan Singer calling the shots for 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'? Any plot stories you want to see in the sequel if an X-Men crossover storyline is a possibility?
