 The source is the speaker
Linn have announced Exakt, something the Company is terming 'a new revolution in hi-fi', which has turned the loudspeaker into an intelligent, connected, software-upgradable product.

The Exakt, a new Linn technology, builds on Linn DS to extend the lossless digital path all the way to the speaker, keeping the signal digital and only converting to analogue at the last possible stage to manitain accuracy of data, guarantee low latency and extremely low jitter.
Linn has launched the Klimax Exakt System, comprising Klimax Exakt DSM and Klimax Exakt 350 Speakers. Exakt combines and improves on three key Linn innovations – Source-First, Aktiv, and DS and is probably the most direct connection ever made between the listener and the artist. It sends digital data to an Exakt speaker losslessly to eliminate sources of noise, distortion and interference inherent in the traditional analogue hi-fi chain.
Inside the Exakt Speaker is a digital platform including Exakt phase which corrects every signal, eliminating the phase and magnitude distortion introduced by analogue crossovers and it also measures and corrects for even the tiniest variation between drive units, meaning, says Linn, that every system that leaves the factory is guaranteed to perform exactly to its specification.
Unfortunately all this cutting-edge tech doesn't come cheap and the Linn Klimax Exakt will set you back a cool 50 grand but it is available now. |
