After I got my cubox-i4pro a month ago, I totally lost the confidence to this company.  
Not because the hardware, it's wonderful.  But they got zero, or negative software support.  You can tell from their own forum.

haha...... I mean, even their own software engineer can't make the cubox work properly yet.  Now the wifi driver and display driver for OS is a big problem to many cubox-i owner.  Except the user self-developed softwares, now seems only xbmc series and mpd series can work.

I would be happy if it can run "Picoreplayer" with direct SPDIF output and direct I2S from the GPIO connector with US$45 only.

You see in the introduction video, there's a table showing the difference between the two. More specific:
1. CPU is i.MX6 Solo, already totally different from what's using on Pi
2. GPU also different.
3. GPIO pinout must be different too

In short, this is a brand new hardware with some integration of more up-to-date hardware than Pi, and since it's new hardware, you need new software.

If you are running native operating system (not Android), you have to wait for SolidRun to release the OS. And if the OS doesn't meet your need, you have to modify it yourself (given that it is open source), or you have to wait for others to do for you.

cubox-i is launched more than 6 months.  There is still none properly running official OS yet.

I think the CPU and the GPIO pins are compatible with Pi:

Raspberry pi have a new version "B+" now.
Any one know, it can have better sound to use USB to DDC ?

Just ordered B+ .............let's see how it sounds later....

But just looking at the spec it may not sound better as it replaces the voltage regulator from liner to switching to save energy....
