Thank you.  It is running-in 24x7.   I connected both headphone and XLR balanced to run-in both.  

I'd like to run-in around 200 hours.   So next weekend would be good time to have audition and compare.

Just brought and downloaded the Yamina direct DSD recording for testing.  It is going to be my first time having end-to-end DSD direct coding/decoding experience.

Sure , indeed I have downloaded Dsd128 the first day when it was released.  Not fully benefit from dsd , as my Dac using es9018 which convert to PCM before decoding .

Now it is my second purchase of this record, in dsd 64 format this time.  Pls note that AK4396 only direct decode dsd64.  

To enjoy full benefit of dsd direct on Black Dragon. decode dsd64 should be great .  Will compare dsd128 and dsd64 .

Mine also uses Asahi Kasei's Dac as well but AK4399

AK4399 is great DAC chip, it is higher end compare to AK4396.  In fact AK4396 need to operate in dual mono mode to have similar S/N ratio of AK4399.

Sunday night at showroom is great, nobody working in the building.  Power is clean.  And environment is very quiet. Very good time enjoying music.  Except a bit hot during summer.  

Comparing DSD128 and DSD64 using Black Dragon is not challenging.  As it is not a equal competition.  DSD128 has double the resolution compared to DSD64.  However, DSD64 is direct decode.  We all know, when we have audition, better change one factor at a time.  In this case, we could not control but changing 2 factors together.

DSD128 definitely sounded more detail than DSD64 (slightly).   But DSD64 sounded more natural to me and I could listen to it for long without feeling tired.   I like the DSD64 direct DSD decode very much indeed.

After one week 24x7 run-in.  The performance of Audiobyte Black Dragon has improved, more open and very natural sound with excellent sound stage.  

We have visitors today and compared Black Dragon with the DAC they carried in.  Performance of Black Dragon is just excellent.  Black Dragon has very good sound stage and "air", in particular with live records.  Dynamic and high frequency extension are just lovely.

We also did A/B comparison using DSD record. Black Dragon DSD64 direct decoding is exceptionally good compared to ES9018 based DACs.   DSD lovers will like it [直解DSD].
