It has always been a chicken and egg problem, sometimes the profit margin for the dealer are so high that they invest in high rent to ensure that their brand is being recognised. Now, with the eCommerce world as well as the ultra transparency in information flow; the high rent comes back to haunt them.
Imagine, if I can get a Patek 25% cheaper elsewhere, and with the global warranty; why shall I buy it in Hong Kong from the dealer. The exact same happened to Mercedes years ago. |
