I have just joined the forum and would like to share with you chings about MC step up transformers.

This is one of my favourite transformers that I mate with my Koetsu Rosewood Platinum, it portraits a full body presentation and makes you really want to revisit your vinyl collections all over again.

Like your step up! Have you tried laying flat the transformer on a stable platform. It may improve the sound for the better.

Is this a silver version? That is great; the step up takes 2 input and manage to deal with high and low ohm. Good choice!

Ortofon SPU-T100

This step up offers a all rounder sound nothing less but nothing more... just right. More of all, the sound become detailed and warmth.

隻天龍牛夾返天龍頭好平均, 試過 DL-S1, 多款 103 有幾好, 一夾 ortofon 或 Shelter 就唔多似樣

另一對當時頂班, ARC Ref Phono 都用佢, 但而家投閒置散嘅 Jensen JT-347-AXT , 個性百撘, 新聲

想請問Ching MC4夾邊個(or邊幾個)牌子phono比較適合呢(如不用EAR phono)

Sorry, 未玩過 MC4。

昇壓牛跟 Phono Amp 及唱頭有太多變數, 牛同 Amp 多數冇乜大問題, 當然 phono amp 已經蒙同喑, 咁最好唔好簡啲舊聲牛/咪高風牛, 好似 Altec 4722 咁, 高頻唔多好, 但味道又十分好。有時唔同頭, 唔同Loading, 得出嚟又可以天同地。

I had EAR MC3 before, the presentation is quite interesting. As mentioned, Koetsu is more mid tone with richness and Ortofon SPU T-100 is mild and very rounded even sophisticated.

Regarding EAR MC3 has more baseline sound reproduction; I would say if you listen to jazz and pop. It can be good choice. I used it with Koetsu Rosewood Platinum, Denon DL-103r and Ortofon Class SPU with my phono amp AD-275V being an optional module for Accuphase preamp. Call me crazy, I love them all that produced very different in terms of sound stage and sonic reproduction. Besides depending on which SUT you use, the whole system changes its style of sound reproduction quite radically.

Apart from it, EAR MC3 had relatively more noise in comparison with all mentioned SUTs above. I don't know exactly the reason, but I guess since EAR MC3 allows you to plug in 3 different inputs with a number of different ohms. It may let more noise to get in the device.

Thank you for sharing the listening experience. My MC4 isn't noisy in my system luckily. I've enjoyed it a lot.

I may get the 834p to team up with this SUT. In the meantime, just curious if there may be some other phono amps (similar price range) would do a wonderful work as well.
