hip-dac採用左Burr-Brown DAC解碼晶片，支援MQA檔案, 可確保分別支持高達32位/ 384kHz和DSD256的PCM和DSD檔案，確保音源一直保持廠方所形容的"bit-perfect”。機內會進行模擬轉換。旋轉音量旋鈕兩側的兩個LED燈會更改顏色，指示用家正在播放的音樂的格式和採樣率。

iFi hip-dac有兩個USB輸入位：USB Type A輸入用於音頻傳輸，而USB-C插座則用於電池充電。 hip-dac的2200mAh電池可提供約8到12個小時的播放時間，具體用電分別取決於音量和耳機的電源需求。普通和平衡耳機均可分別通過其3.5mm和Pentaconn 4.4mm輸出直接插入hip-DAC。最適合對耳機音質要求高的你.

The DAC section is based around a Burr-Brown DAC chip (Texas Instruments) that iFi uses extensively in its products, combined with custom circuitry to deliver the best possible sound quality in a portable device from HRA digital audio formats, including PCM, native DSD and fully decode MQA, as used by Tidal’s ‘Masters’ tier. Hi-res PCM and DXD audio data is supported at sampling rates up to 384kHz, alongside DSD from 2.8MHz to 12.4MHz (DSD64, 128 and 256).

iPhone 支援 Hi-Res 解碼　增益與低頻也可調
hip-dac 也有很實用的 PowerMatch 以及 TrueBass 按鈕，分別用來調校耳機輸出的高、低增益，以及增強低頻效果的高、低選擇。機身另一面的 USB-C 端子只用作充電，音訊傳輸要靠旁邊的 USB Type-A 端子，跟機除了充電線之外，也有連接用於解碼的 USB-C Android 手機接線以及 USB-A 電腦接線，可惜就沒有提供 iPhone 的 Lightning 線。不過 iPhone 連接 hip-dac 並不需要 Apple 的 USB 3 Camera Adapter 以及額外供電，幾十元的 Lightning OTG 接線已經可以直接使用。而且沒有 Android 的 SRC 限制，播 MOOV 24bit Hi-Res 和 TIDAL 的 MQA 音樂都是直接就可以輸出解碼，這方面 hip-dac 配合 iPhone 使用比 Android 更方便，後者要 HF Player、Hiby Music 等特定 App 才可以輸出 Hi-Res。
