According to siuping's sharing before, using CIFS is preferred in daphile. So unless you would like to compare again yourself, otherwise just map drive using CIFS is okay.

Thank you, 大師兄。I saw his posts in overseas forum regarding this last night.
And I've tried many combination last night , too.  I hope I got better luck tonight.  Thanks everyone again.

According to http://www.daphile.com/wiki/index.php?title=Storage,

Common Internet File System (cifs)
...The drive mapping notation that Daphile uses differs from the one used in Windows OS (\\host\path vs. host/path; note the use of slash instead of backslash).

"path" must always contain at least the share name but it may be extended with certain directory path also, eg. host/share/dir1/dir2
"username" is optional if the service is accessible to guess users

Unless you create different share name for your Synology, you should be able to just type cifs://[email protected]/music to connect to your NAS.  The latest
version of daphile allows you to click retry to test out the connection.  Hope this helps!

Obviously I did not notice a "retry" button at bottom of Storage Input. I am using Daphile hotspot directly connecting NAS to Daphile PC without router. Before, I need to re-boot my Daphile every time so that Daphile can recognize NAS music file. I read the last post here and it reminds me. This morning I use "retry" instead of re-boot and it works, Daphile can re-scan and see NAS music files.

Thanks Ching to remind me of using this "retry" feature.

昨晚我用玩 voyage mpd 的那部 fanless pc 裝 daphile (latest 64bits RT)，file 由 NAS 攞。約略比較過，RAM play 係好聲D的，跟住 cifs 同 NFS 係有少許唔同聲，cifs 既聲係滑D，NFS既聲就爽D、乾淨D。

Daphile 既 UI 真係贏晒，又好睇又好用，手機上的 app 又多又靚仔。但出嚟既聲都係唔及 voyage mpd (0.10.0)。The sound is so muddy arh. 攪到個歌手好似好多痰咁，樣樣嘢都矇下，分析唔夠，唔夠立體，音場動態等都差點。

不過用  daphile 聽 RTHK 網上電台好似幾好聲，因為已經夜深，細細聲咁聽，好似好過  voyage mpd 好多。N.B. 部DAC 都係show 44.1kHz，不過那時個人已好攰，同細細聲聽，這兩晚看看有無時間再試。

Quite surprise to hear that Voyage MPD is much better than Daphile, not sure why Daphile performs "muddy" in your system.

I had compared Daphile with a Philips CDM 1 transport on 16/44.1 format, both are using SPDIF output to the same DAC, Philips CDM1 transport is better than Daphile by a slight 10% margin only.

Anyway, thanks for your input.

Maybe you install voyage mpd and share your comparison. :)

I tried Voyage MPD a few years ago, I found the OS is not user friendly, also the OS did not support the LAN of my motherboard, cannot make it work even exchange a few email with the HK designer. However, Daphile is much user friendly, can use hotspot mode.

Planning to upgrade to i5 fanless PC, may be give another trial on Voyage MPD.

I see I see......
UI and user friendly experience is very important, too.  Yet the sound of voyage mpd still more appealing to my ears.
I hope voyage mpd can work properly in your new fanless pc.

Sound muddy 可能係 setup 出了問題… 最快方法試下 re-scan music library，跟著 restart PC. 如果冇效的話，試下 Lan 的速度，用 Daphile 的 file management copy 幾百 Mega byte 的歌 from NAS to local SSD 計一下速度，正常 100M 的 file should be around one second. Hope this may help...

已試過了......

剛試了speed test, 無問題，400幾M 的file 都係兩三秒左右。
