俾足兩隻 1600W 嘅 ATX 火牛餵佢嘅話每個月要交嘅電費都幾和味,不過問題係唔知 Roon Server 會唔會利用得到咁很強嘅怪物,暫時只係預料 latency 將會掂到離晒譜。

但係 Supermicro 嘅雙 Xeon 加埋 BIOS 優化亦都不容忽視,全新嘅 X11DPU-XLL 一套 server 要萬幾美金,二手嘅 X10DRU-XLL 一套 server 要萬幾港紙。

1U server 仲諗緊點解決噪音問題

雙 Xeon 一定得,配 C621 chipset.

Asus 有隻 c621 底板

Listening to "Fanfare" the orchestra collapsed.



Playing off of my new server running off of Optane the soundstage on "Fanfare" opens back up there is much more depth.  The strings are better isolated.  BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE!



Then there is "C" running in RAM.  The two Joe Ford Tracks leap off of the speakers.  The detail explodes.  On the Zoe Keating tracks, there is much more detail around the bow and the strings on the cello.



I am very pleased with the listening results.  I am going to be working harder to understand the issues with AL crashes, and I have to tune the BIOS some more.



WHEW! This week I will be able to spend more time just listening to music around the house. "

According to Ed Hsu of Sound Galleries, SSDs emit a noise in the 6GHz range that is very difficult to filter and the faster the SSD, generally the noisier it is.  Based on what I was hearing, I had no reason to doubt what he was saying.
對策應該係好似 romaz 師兄咁樣 Roon Server/Roon Endpoint 兩邊都唔好駁任何 PCIe/SATA/USB drives,用隻手指 boot 起咗 OS 入 RAM 之後就掹咗隻手指,全部 files 放入去有 Wi-Fi 或者 SFP 嘅 NAS 就搞掂。

所以 romaz 師兄嘅路向係 Intel X25-E → eMMC → diskless(即係純 RAM drive),少隻香爐少隻鬼之餘 latency 亦都好很掂。

以我在本地CAS server match with diff top notch DACs  的經驗 (from Audio NOTE Six Elements DAC,  Wadax, TrinityDAC,  MSB, dCS, CH Precision,totalDAC ,  Lampizator ,  EmmLabs DAC, NAGRA HD etc..) .  Emile 的saying is NOT totally correct .... ,  我唔認為同價錢有關.  同解碼的內部解碼方式. 關聯比較大.

for most of the R2R DAC,  may be true.  for most of the FPGA one.  depends ,  dCS Vivaldi is depends.  

有些解碼.  唔Best match and find out the best sample rate and fine tune ,  可以好好衰聲的 ..

小弟一定要試聽 Evo Extreme 夾 Totaldac D1-12 Mk II.....小弟估計一定會好掂。

不過,等小弟再攪埋部 DIY Roon Server (Xeon) 先,因為一試左 Evo 及 Totaldac , 小弟死梗
