I think no one will buy LUMIN to play PCM. People buy LUMIN for its DSD player through network.

And I think the conclusion of this topic is LUMIN is mostly<= MDS, so 买LUMIN不如买MDS，只是觉得这样的结论的比较过程比较奇怪。

Why you are sure people buying Lumin just for DSD ?

There are other cheaper network music players can able to handle DSD.

除左自己rip之外，大label如DG, EMI Classic, Decca...等等都有FLAC或WAV從網上購買。我自己都有從5個不同網站購買。其實可以買FLAC/WAV嘅網站唔止咁少。我冇玩DSD，所以都唔知有幾多選擇。

Ray兄嘅分享大概講出各播放器DAC部份功力差別。Ray兄同m40兄亦都分享比較上一啲重點。

至於會唔會因為DSD而起死回生贏回一仗呢？如果個DSD喺由PCM轉成，就算有人覺得好聽啲我估都係因為後加嘅味精而唔係播放器功力。如果真係native DSD，可能係另一回事，但又會因為後加味精而令PCM＂好＂左呢？

就好似一部SACD/CD機播CD比另一部純CD機差，咁會唔會播SACD時贏呢？小弟年資淺，望有高人指點

i suppose red book format performance are the most critical for all form of dac... no matter it is streamer..dac..etc..etc..etc..etc..

if the above finding is truth.., wish those lumin shall face the truth and make some correction..

i have a renew DS..., never really use it... wish i have time soon

Free version of dBpoweramp is working fine for just ripping lossless from CD to FLAC / WAV.

FLAC / WAV are good lossless Audio Formats used by most of the Network Music Players.

FLAC is compressed lossless with Tag information (i.e. album arts, singer, etc.)

WAV is uncompressed lossless without Tag information.

Hence, FLAC is preferred and suggested for Linn DS users.

After setting up the NAS, Linn DS, iPad, router, etc and also the connectivity between them, the next you need is songs to play with! Like Raywan Hing said, FLAC is recommended by Linn. So you need to have the songs in FLAC format and copy to the NAS.

You have 2 ways to get the FLAC files:
1) rip from CD
2) buy from web

To rip from CD, I am using and recommend dbpoweramp (paid version). It's more user-friendly than EACopy.

To buy from CD, Below are those I bought from before. You can pay by paypal as it should be safer I supposed:
