Using Kingrex PSU MK2 and silver-gold DC cable give significantly better bass and transparancy than the original PSU. This is not a surprise because the voltage output of Kingrex as measured by multimeter is exactly 12V (though its specification says Nominal 13V) but the originla PSU gives only about 11V.

Also, the silver-gold DC wire should give better transparency and clarity than the original copper cable.

The real surprise is the fuse of Kingrex PSU.  Changing it to a silver-wire fuse, the treble improves a lot.  Suggest to try different mateials to suit taste.

As I said, the original PSU can retire now.

TeddyPardo PSU is another option but not easy to find a 2nd hand that provides 12V DC.

Kingrex looks quite neat inside

Borrowed picture from you?  Thanks a lot! Did not know it was your picture which was very well taken.

As I could not get a 2nd hand Teddypardo PSU, I bought a Kingrex Mk2 PSU from my friend at a good price.  I am quite happly with Kingrex which helps take my PLL to the next level of sonic performance.  Of course, the diy silve-gold 12V DC cable also helps.

BTW, do you think TeddyPardo is better or as good as Kingrex?

Frankly, not really.

Teddy make good marketing presentation.

A good LPSU is not purely rely on circuit tricks...

If we say for sonic quality, we must use good analogue components instead.

E.g. all new hands may think Battery Supply is good but we all know we pursue for lively and dynamic sound which Battery Supply never works.

Either if you got it form 2nd at low price, it is good.

For Kingrex, the weakest part is the low efficient transformer will drop volt with load full 3A.  For small load with 2A below, it should be ok.


There are so many Branded PSU or DIYs PSU but no one dare to say it could have sweet, liquid, deep bass, good sound....

Nice to hear your comments.  It seems that I have not gone far wrong in choosing a 2nd hand Kingrex Mk2 PSU.  I did not pick the battery version of Kingrex because I thought battery would not handle the transient and dynamics well enough.  Also, I think my PLL preamp would draw a current of less than 1 ampere.

BTW, do you have any experience with the famous PSU made in Scotland (Paul Hynes, model SR2) which is quite expensive at 510 British Pounds?  Please PM me if not appropriate to give comments in this forum. Thanks a lot
