I have the following thinking:- Phase represents the compression state of air molecules which convey the sound energy into our ear. Phase changed 180 degree upon reflection and also affected each other. As a result, it is very dependable on the Acoustics of the Room. If the number of reflections is high, the phase will mingle very much and the difference in using the phase button is not much help. However, if the number of reflections is low, the sound difference is more in using the phase button.
I also learned from some Articles that some recording companies using Inverted Phase in recording since they realize Phase also changed during transmission in Wire. When long microphone wires are used, the phase also changed more.
I hope someone may help to confirm if the above do reflect the Reality.
