Background: -
1) Insufficient electrical wall sockets (4 only for over 20 appliances). Please refer to previous post: -
http://www.hiendy.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=10552.
2) Big boss won’t allow additional/separate electricity supply.
3) Currently using 2 cheap “Ching Wah” electrical extension sockets (each with 8 outputs- 4 x UK type 4 x US type). All 8 outputs are at “correct electrical phase”.
After itching and researching for upgrade for electrical extension sockets (as an interim solution), would like to seek comments to gather the pros and cons before actual change.
If going to buy a US type extension sockets like Sine 30A AND using a UK type PC connecting it to the wall socket for the time being: -
1) Would there be a “reverse phase” problem?
2) Is the above arrangement (UK type PC) a good c/p improvement or a US type PC to the wall socket a must to make it even better (need to change to US type wall socket as well? Any reverse phase problem because of existing UK wiring method)?
3) If using some existing factory made cheaply US type PC to connect to the AV components like BD player or AV amp (to save money), is there any “reverse phase” problem (UK type PC connecting the Sine 30A to the wall socket)?
4) If using the Sine 30A (US type) and changing the existing PC connecting various components to US plug type, how to connect to make sure there is no “reverse phase” problem?
Sorry if the above questions appear to be redundant because I am really confused about the UK Vs US type electrical wiring. Confusion, will be my epitaph…
Not to complicate things further, but is that: -
UK type US type
E E
N L L N
1) UK type L three-leg plug has fuses and is the culprit of bad sound?
2) US type extension socket (like Sine 30A) has L on the lower left hand side and may cause “reverse phase” problem with UK type wall socket if not properly adjusted (switch N with L to solve it? Exactly how please?)?
4) AV component (end of the chain - wall socket PC BD player/AV amp, for example) also has build-in fuse(s) at the L wire input and if it is not connected to the proper L from the wall unit via the PC, it may also give rise to “reverse phase” problem?
Last but not least, is that all US type connections (wall socket, PC, extension socket) are better for 2 channels music than on AV systems (because US type is not legitimate in HK)? In other words, if concern about AV performance only, then may stick to UK type connections?
Thank you for all your patience and welcome any comments. |
