Anthem mrx700 or ?

hi all experts

i would like to buy a new AV amp and a new centre speaker for my AV setup ... currently i have a pair of elac 247se only ... and plan to have only 3-channels for AV without subwoofer (as my elac speakers seem have enough base already) ...  and after reading a few posts, found anthem mrx700 seems pretty good ... natural and detailed performance ... but with only 3-channels, will Anthem mrx700 be suitable or other brands (such as Y, Onkyo...) better ?

i also want to use this av amp to listen to album occasionally ... so hope to buy an AV amp with fairly good audio performance (for serious 2-channel playing, will use tube-amp...)

Anthem MRX700 does support 3 channel mode of operation, either 2.1,5.1 or 7.1. Auto ARC won't operate because it cannot find  support set of speakers as cited above. Hope I was wrong.

You are welcome, as a workaround,  you may borrow two speakers to run the arc, but with no surround speakers, ambience is lost. I think most receivers cannot run their auto-eq <----failure to detect the minimum sets of speaker configuration.

as my suggestion, I use 2 channel system to see movie before, if setting is good, the surround sound not much worst than 5.1/7.1 system. You can try to use 2 channel to see movie first, if not ok then think about to use AV amp then.

this is what i am doing (using 2-channel tube amp to support watching blueray disc) but always found overall sound level too high, base too strong but human voice too weak (such as watching Avengers, Transformers, etc) ... may be my bdp is a bit weak (denon 1611 series, and plan to upgrade to oppo95), and i hope if i get an av amp and a center speaker and the new oppo 95, this will help to give a more balanced audio performance on watching blue ray discs ...

I think is the speaker position problem, you can make the distance between speaker a little more, then the sound will become more balance.
Denon is not good for 2 channel, you can buy Oppo 93 first, if still not improved than buy MRX 300 & PAV 5(almost the same price as MRX 700 but more power)

If u only want to play with 3 channel then don't need to consider 700, just buy a player like a1ud or 9004 Decode then convert to 2 channel mode to ur pre amp would be easier n have 2 channel quality on movie

least week I go to dealer and see this one only have RCA input and 125W model, they told me that it sell at HK$9K5, for the 5 channel with balance input and 225W only sell at HK$20000

no, only 7.1 channels at most(surround back or front height), you have to use a y-splitter to play 2 subwoofers.

AND ONLY ONE HDMI OUTPUT.
