想造純銀power cord, 但silver wire is very expensive, 1 sqmm wire costs about HK$150/foot, 如果 Live and Neutral 用silver wire, but only use copper wire for Earth, 可省三分一錢, 請教師兄覺得sonic performance 會比3 cores都用silver wire 有大分別嗎?
照計Earth wire 不導电(unless there is a short circuit fault), 用copper應對sonic performance 沒大影响吧!
Pure silver wire is very expensive, to make 5 sqmm per core power cord, each core needs to be 6 numbers of 1mm diameter wire. For a 6 foot long power cord, the total cost is about:
6 x 1mm dia. wire per core x 3 cores (L,N and E) x 6 feet x $150/foot = HK$16,200.
If copper wire is used for Earth, saving of 1/3 is about $5400.

但小弟用Nagra PLL preamp which uses a separate PSU (with Earth wire connection) converting to 12V dc to feed the preamp without Earth/ground wire connecting to the preamp itself. Would it make a difference?
My personal experience is that using double run pure silver wire to feed from Nagra PLL preamp ground post to Entreq Silver Minimus not as good as single-run wire (soundstage shrinks too much using double-run although clarity is slightly better).
小弟唔敢話指導, 只係分享下個人使用心得, 但直流線或單純接地嘰用法有別, 因為你係之前係講電源線, 所以我理解為 L N 各一條導體, E行兩線, 拗埋行 StarQuad, 盡量令L N 對 E 線所產生嘰感應電壓抵消, 行兩條亦可以令 E 線嘰抗阻降底, 減低器材之間嘰地電位差異, 所以 E 建議用兩組最好嘰導體, 要試效果最好係一次過換晒器材相等長度電源線, 就算你唔鐘意效果都仲可以響接頭將 L N E 將D導線交換接...
Back to my 原夲問題, L及N用銀線各1條, 而用２條copper wire for Earth to make電源線. Would using copper wire for E same as using silver wire for E 呢? E 線不導电(unless there is a short circuit fault), 用copper應對sonic performance 沒大影响吧!
請指教吓, there is very little info about this on the internet, except saying that no current flows through Earth wire unless there is a circuit fault.
After surfing on the internet for a while, I have found that Star Quad has more to do with signal cables such as microphone cable, speaker cables (e.g. Audioquest) and interconnects, but not much to do with power cables. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks!
