How to connect Pionner BDP and AV Amp

Dear all C hing;

I am new comer for AV.  I just brought Pionner BDP-LX54 (Blue ray) and VSX-LX53(AV amp).  They are connected by HDMI cables?   2 pieces?  1 piece from BDP to AV amp, another from AV amp to TV?

Other suggestions?  Of if need HDMI, any recommendation?  within HK$ 500 apiece is OK.
