I have just received the MPS cables this afternoon and tried to connect the HD-230 (0.5M) HDMI cable for trial first. The below message is my initial listening to this cable.
At first Audition, the dental consonant of the singer disappeared and seemed less excited but more cordial and natural. The human vocal is smooth without extra warmness and fleshiness but palatable. The mouth shape of the singer is not special large or small but just as what it should be. Its character is nice on auditioning to the female singers in Chinese opera that it wouldn’t produce harsh sound making your ears unpleasant. I noted that the basso made his voice messy and hazy with the previous 30cm HDMI ($25) computer cable. This MPS HDMI cable could let the basso sing clearly word by word without chaos.
The low is solid enough to make well controlled avoid booming. The solid doesn’t mean it’s special hard making no any harmonics of the low in audition but just enough. The high is just no any dull or extra brilliant on listening but feeling just right.
For only $140 (discounted), I think it is outstanding and over its value. Its performance may grow much better after hundred hours of burning. Its performance on human vocal is especially attractive.
One more thing I must have to say that Mr. Poon is a very nice guy. I made the order 1M X9 OCC cable with silver plated. He sent me 1.2M together with 1.5M X7 OCC cable free. But for the HD-990 USB cable which originally ordered 0.75M, Mr. Poon sent me a 1M one though it is more expensive than the 0.75M one. Because 0.5M for the USB is more than enough, I ordered the 0.75 one just because this length is the shortest one for this model. 1M for me is too long
