These are the same comments that I obtained in the past from both high hands of M&K (i.e. Ken Kreisel & Chris Hagen).

They suggest me to use a good quality isolation transformer for MPS-2510P (220V Version) and isolation step down transformer for MPS-2510P (120V Version).

Besides, they told me that the isolation transformer can reduce the incoming noise to enhance the sound quality of the speakers.

However, we need to provide sufficient power input supply (i.e. stable voltage and adequate current) to the speakers.

Hence, a good quality isolation transformer with appropriate rating is suggested and a rule of thumb is 2 or 3 time the nominal power rating.

For example, MPS-2510P (power rating 300W), it is better to use at least 600W (i.e. 2X) or a 900W (i.e. 3X) to provide adequate peak power supply.

Therefore, 10buck360 hing using 2500W for 3 x MPS-2510P is sufficient (~833W for each --> 2.8X)

They agreed those made by Topaz is a reasonably good quality isolation transformer.

Therefore, I am currently using Topaz 5KVA (5000W) for the MPS-5310/MPS-5410 Subwoofers.

Besides, I use CSE TX-2500 (2500W) for the MPS-2525P surround speakers (I have another spare Topaz 5KVA).

I actually did the comparison of MPS-2510P (220V) with Shunyata Research Model 6 against MPS-2510P (120V) with isolation step-down transformer, I cannot find the performance difference.

I have already used all dedicated power lines for AV equipment.



I already selected the dedicated blue set from the 3 phase power supply in the main power switch box (yellow and red for other home appliance)

對ISOLATION(隔離牛)STEPDOWN(降壓牛)都有一定理解

但凡{{牛}}尼味野都有自身味道與回塘時制約..

而且牛本身又或多或小會因為磁損而引起震動..etc..

所以除左 DAC / player 尼類輕可野外..正常情況下吾用好過用!!

I agree with Ep-71 hing.

For HiFi stereo, the step-down transformer or isolation transformer may introduce some different "taste" to the gears.

For AV / HT applications, this taste is not easily be recognized and not critical at all.

However, for good quality isolation transformer with large reservoir (capacitor), there is not a major problem or issue.

Anyway, the choice of using or not using isolation transformer is depending on individual preference.

I also use CSE E-500 isolation transformer in my HiFi gears for Linn Klimax DS even with 2 dedicated power lines.

Although CSE E-500 with sufficient power supply rating, I do not attach it with Mark Levinson No.32 as it already has its own power conditioner / supply unit (controller) for the preamp unit.

  

But I agree with Ep-71 hing, for all transformers, there will be some vibrations or sound frequencies generated which may not be desirable.

Therefore, I place the Topaz 5KVA at the store room next to the main power switch box so that I cannot hear any noise or feel any vibration at the Home theatre.

However, the CSE E-500, TX-2500 and TX-1000 do have some small vibration sounding when operating.  But luckily it is comparative low in noise level.

We don't need any isolation transformer because 220~240V version 2510p both of them  are very quite!

I tried and compared my MPS-2510P (220V Version):

(1) Power directly from wall socket

(2) Power via power conditioner (Shunyata Research Hydra Model 6)

The option (2) is still slightly better with cleaner and lower noise background (you can hear closely to the MPS-2510P).

I just gave up setting another AV/HT system in my UK home.

Therefore, I let go some of the surplus / spare speakers & subwoofers to other M&K lovers.

My two MPS-5310 will be taken away by M&K lover during Easter Holiday.

I have already sold a pair of MPS-1611P to a M&K lover.

The remaining MPS-1611P x 2 will be retained for my personal use in the study room.



You may ask 10buck360 hing for his beloved gears as he has got 4 pairs and just used 2 pairs for HT & 1 pair for HiFi.
