NAS 離開我的皇帝位5呎，完全唔覺得有噪音，開了 Quiet mode 風扇，Synology 的 NAS 無得關風扇的。

無喇喇做乜要磨硬碟？

I am using WD Red HDD. The DS918+ is quiet when using quiet mode. I have not noticed that any of the HDD would spin itself for no reason.

風扇聲其實就唔會點聽得倒，我個小兒料 DS118 為例，開咗 Quiet mode，呢個冬天我真係未見過佢個風扇轉，夏天就未知，不過我個 DS115j 就算 Quiet mode，只要一 access 佢，佢個風扇一定會轉，但唔就個耳仔埋去，點都唔會聲倒聲。反而選擇 harddisk 就比較緊要，我自己試過 Seagate 好明顯聽倒碟轉嘅聲，如果 seek 就更大 "ge ge ...." 聲，但我用 WD green and WD blue 就靜好多，只係 seek 時會有 "gege... " 但比 Seagate 就可以接受好多。我睇科林講，東芝同 HGST 就嘈倒瞓唔倒。

睇你用邊個model啫，HGST He系列咪靜囉。

我都係用ds918+,加埋呢個風扇濾波,表現會再好多少少少
不過要拆散部機先勉強放得入,同埋其中一條線要用3pin,否則頂住插唔到電

918+裡面咁逼夾，你都放得到，厲害厲害。

用 m2 SSD caching 絶對有優勢，速度更好和少了很多 distortion.

玩到盡， 全套用 SSD 會更好。

S記有3個風扇mode, 是中間的一個?

if you are using NAS as a output source, one SSD is enough.
one for out and one for in.

i AB tested 916+ and 918+. 918+ is smoother.

i use 2.5 inch HHD. so i disconnected the fan. basically no heat. this gives the best sound. and i used PPA aluminium blocks. very effective in sound.

Your Synology didn't beep when the fans were not connected/functioning?

in Synology 415+, 916+ and 918+,
it used a extra SSD as a buffer before output. So it is all depend on the model you used.
if you want to just replace your HDD by SSD, this you need to check with your model.

好少人咁 玩，如果只換一隻SSD，你的 Raid 就只跟最細的 SSD，容量變得好細，500G 到 1T。

比較好的玩法是用兩隻 SSD 走 Raid 0，但你要另外 backup 你的 file
