As you know, I had been using Weiss MAN301 for a long time (in fact, all other gears being changed and 301 still stay) because of the All-in-One function including a very user friendly interface, easy to rip with direct connection to Gracenote etc.

I do not quite understand why the designer want to use an external ROM for ripping rather than its own transport, can you explain a bit more?  If ripping function is added and provided the user interface is friendly, it may really attract me to change the 301.

Dear Willip hing,

the Reason for the CD transport not connecting to the Media server section is because it want to make sure it got the lowest interference when it doing AudioCD Playback.  When WD Transport did the cd playback ,  it use its own read until dead algorithm for reading and load it on RAM.  and it use the Femto clock to to buffer the CD data to different kind of digital output.  

therefore , the front CD tray did not connected to the media server but to the central control board.
