認同!小弟不才,廿多年前只玩過一部無源前級Cello Etude,裏面又係只得個volume制,唔知原來今時今日的所謂無源前級會有四種,同埋LDR係乜我都唔知

LDR stands for Light Dependent Resisitor (pls correct me if I am wrong).

Lightspeed Attenuator designed by George Stantscheff of Australia is one of the renown product of this type.

As a LDR is essentially anything but a resistor, LDR preamp is basically a resistive passive with a twist. Hope it helps.

I don't having any experience of LDR passive myself. But my impression upon reading reviews online is very positive. Consider C/P ratio, Lightspeed attenuator is a steal.

With the right source (low output impedance), right power amplifier (high input impedance) and right cable (low cable capacitance), a pot based passive pre-amplifier will sound like heaven, extremely transparent and low distortion.

For those who just drop in a passive pre-amplifier to replace the active ones, without considering the overall system, chances are it'll sound pretty bad. Following link is a very nice summary of what may go wrong:
