I also have the same problem as yours.
I placed my speaker just one foot near the rear wall due to my living room is small.
Fortunately my speaker is designed can be put near the rear wall. I use Marten Getz.
The air hole of my speaker is at the bottom so I think it is slightly better than those at the back.. but still, if I manage to have 3 feet between rear wall and speaker, the stage and depth of the sound is much better...
Any ching have experience what material I can use to absorb sound on rear wall?

My speakers don't have any air hole so it can be placed near rear wall.
I used acoustic system copper basic resonator to absorb and regulate sound on rear wall. I also used Titan which can also make the sound with more clarity. I saw you also have a Titan.
